<p>Paula Rhoads, producer of Brainiacs, videotaped the rough road coming down from the Alpine Tunnel for fun, which includes a lovely view of the Palisades. In order to accommodate the railroad of 1880s, engineers built without mortar some roadbeds where there is nothing below them. So far, they have held up quite well, with only a few stones dislodging in the last 130 years or so. Fortunately, Paula and her family survived the ordeal and beautiful scenery near Pitkin, Colorado and plan to go back as soon as possible.
<p>Two candidates split the Views From Denver hour Oct. 8, 2010 with Host Nancy Ulrich. First, Pauline Olvera is a Republican running for the State House in District 7 to replace term limited Speaker of the House Terrance Carroll. Pauline discusses her perspectives that led her to join the Republican party and run against Angela Williams, the Democrat with a lot of established backing. In the last half of the hour, Stan Garnett, Boulder DA and Democrat running against incumbent Attorney General John Suthers, presents his differences with his Republican opponent.
