On the first Friday of every month, Open Media Foundation holds a free community event, Open Music Sessions, at the Denver Open Media studios (near the Sante Fe Art Walk) that spotlights local performance groups, comedians, musical acts, and nonprofit organizations.

In October 2014, Dirty Few was the featured musical act and the "Nonprofit Spotlight" was on Family Tree.
