Her credentials are longer than most people's arms, but Brainiacs is most proud to host former Senator Moe Keller today live from Studio B at Denver Open Media public access tv.
Last month, we broadcast the speech of Tom Clements, ED of the Colorado Department of Corrections, speaking about the study of Colorado prisons' use of solitary confinement to a luncheon of Mental Health America of Colorado, during its advocacy day at the state capitol.
Moe Keller, who is now vice president of public policy for MHA of Colorado, easily reviews the current affairs of MHA of Colorado including discussion of the state's quick action to remove about 37 percent from solitary confinement.
With five years on the Joint Budget Committee, Moe Keller served in both the State House and the Senate before being term limited. Prior to that, she was on the Wheat Ridge town council, and also taught people with hearing impairments.
During an election year, Ms. Keller reminds us that cutting Medicaid and Medicare ALWAYS backfires by increasing local costs for the services that end up providing care to those truly in need, including emergency rooms and prisons. Medicaid gets a federal match, while the prisons and ERs are entirely funded by the public.
And Paula didn't even get a chance to complain about the worker's comp system! There's always next week!
Also, we ran a second hour today, which is Dr. Tina Trudel speaking at the 2009 Conference of the Brain Injury Association of Colorado about Considerations for TBI patients as they age. Unfortunately, our recording is flawed, so we will be delayed in ingesting it to our archives. We apologize for this inconvenience.
