All the money being spent to resurrect the gun control debate, and all the measures that could soon become law, will do little or nothing to prevent the next massacre, Paula asserts.

Look at the Connecticut shooter who never purchased the guns used to slaughter 20 innocent young children.

What will punishment for buying certain types of guns matter if 20 years after a person buys a gun he/she then becomes mentally ill or disabled. Who will notice and take them away?

At this time when only gun control seems to be getting all the attention, and for a debate that previously pitted two sides and got nowhere, what happened to changing how our government purposely cheats the mentally disabled? Specifically? Worker's Compensation, where the people with head trauma can't even get legal representation or enforcement of discovery obligations. This is nothing new: the state auditor criticized this in 2004 and 2000.

So $18 million for mental health hotlines (I thought we already had them) what is it really going to do? That does not correct the decreased funding to the state's Traumatic Brain Injury Trust Fund. Now that grants are lowered from annually $2000 to one per life of $1000, there is not much cognitive rehab possible for $1000.

It certainly seems like Gov. Hickenlooper will have the conversation without our inclusion. Nothing new there.

Cut to the chase? Mr. Holmes will never get out of prison, but let him consider whether a guilty plea at this moment might avoid the death penalty and provide him books for mental stimulation in the future during some of those long long LONG lonely decades staring at masonry walls. Spend the money on the victims. Push for a plea. Harder!
