Attorney Kevin Williams and Sheryle Hutter, lobbyist, for Colorado Cross Disability Coalition, review a number of legislative bills defeated and passed in the Session that ended May 12, 2010.
Williams reviews HB 1152, which attempted to improve civil rights for disabled people, but was defeated in the House after initial approval in the committee hearings.
Hutter reviews the Taxpayers Transparency Act, SB 114, which oddly was unanimously passed on voice vote in the last days of the session, then died moments later.
Host Paula Rhoads crows over the governor's signature on SB 76 eliminating financial incentives (kickbacks and bribes) to doctors to deny healthcare.
But SB 11 and 12 and 13 are on or near the governor's desk and still need citizens' help.
Also, the bill to enforce disability parking gets a run through to remind people how important this really is.
Tune in on Saturday at noon on Channel 56 or at www.denveropenmedia.org for a bit more on these bills on 5-22-2010.
