Coaches learn Concussions
In Project: Brainiacs

Senators Nancy Spence and Linda Newell present Senate Bill 40 at the State Capitol with the Denver Broncos and an NFL representative cheering them on.

The Jake Snakenberg Act will require coaches of middle school and high school and club athletics to learn free online the symptoms of a concussion so they can make a kid sit out instead of getting a SECOND IMPACT SYNDROME concussion that can kill or disable.

Jake's mother, Ms. Jantz, speaks of her son, and a few other parents hosting their daughters also contribute to the discussion around a bill with no fiscal impact that could, in fact, reduce hospital expenses and human tragedy.

Prevention is the first stop in reducing disability and brain injury deaths.

Ed McCaffrey and Billy Thompson, both Denver Broncos pro-bowlers, bring Broncos Owner Pat Bowlen's support too, just before a standingroomonly committee hearing Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011.

Senate Bill 40 passed out of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee with a 7-2 vote.
