The Kempe Children's Center hosted a conference in Denver of the International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect. And our cameras were there to record (the late) Dr. Ruth Kempe speaking at the closing ceremonies.
Also, Judge Gill from Connecticut was the keynote speaker, illustrating the need to save children from their torturers.
Dr. Ruth Kempe, with her late husband Dr. C. Henry Kempe, pioneered the subject in the 1960s with widely published articles on THE BATTERED CHILD. Sometimes the most astonishing breakthroughs are in making society recognize what was right before their eyes all along, yet commonly ignored or excused with flimsy explanations.
The ceremonies are followed by comments from many of the participants, demonstrating the success of the Kempes in spreading this message around the world.
