Mental Health America of Colorado held its annual leadership and advocacy day Feb. 21, 2014 with a smattering of speakers focused on mental health parity under new laws changing the face of healthcare.
Former state Senator Moe Keller, public policy for MHA of Colorado, starts things off, but Peg Brown, deputy insurance commissioner, carries the ball to the endzone.
The MHA program dominates the second half of Brainiacs today, but look for a re-cut to provide a full hour of the first couple of speakers, with question and answer session.
Other MHA speakers will be forthcoming in the next week to give you as much of that program as possible.
The first half hour is given to Paula's dislike of Gov. Hickenlooper's suggestions for how to spend the recreational marijuana tax revenues that Paula has been drooling over for her preferred projects, including funding free Triple Tessla MRI brainscans for any Colorado citizen, permanent housing for people disabled by brain injuries, and a guarantee of legal representation to mentally disabled claimants in worker's comp as a means of preventing fraud and homelessness.
But today, Paula shares her concept of how the corporate welfare of $10 million to market ski resorts could be compensated during shoulder seasons in a program to encourage graduates of Colorado high schools to rub elbows with potential employers in the hospitality industry, mountain fire districts, DOW and the forest service.

But first, plug your ears as Paula attempts the high G in the middle of MacArthur's Park.
