Today's Brainiacs on Feb. 23, 2013 includes about 20 minutes of footage from the 2nd Annual Brain Injury Alliance of Colorado Valentine Party. Gavin Attwood, BIAC executive director, and Linda Heesch, BIAC camp head cheese, introduce several folks key to camps. It's time to sign up and that includes buddies also, by calling Linda at 303-355-9969.
Also, Paula presents several legislative bills from the Colorado Criminal Justice Reform Coalition, whose website is ccjrc.org. They follow bills, as does also the Colorado Cross Disability Coalition at ccdc.org.
Paula presents her own proposals for ballot initiatives to get your opinion in the last 10 minutes of this 58-minute show.
Also, believe it or not, she apologizes to John Lizza of the Attorney General's office because he gave up the form for "PETITION TO REOPEN" after she persuaded him that her 3T MRI is OBJECTIVE MEDICAL PROOF OF PHYSICAL TRAUMA TO HER BRAIN when it says: "focal areas of T2 hyperintensity in the white subcortical matter of her left frontal lobe."
They aren't supposed to help you. The Colorado system is supposed to just send you in circles until you figure it out for yourself, which for survivors of brain injuries on the job, is impossible, not "nearly impossible," as the 2004 State Auditor's report points out on page 47 to 50. The State Auditor said it is "nearly impossible" for folks with certain injuries to get legal representation. Paula concludes that is DISABILITY DISCRIMINATION IN PUBLIC SERVICE, a 14th Amendment complaint, when it is people with mental disabilities from brain injuries on the job.
Also, if you keyed into that news report of the meteorite breaking glass in Russia last week, injuring 1,600 people, or if the Arab Spring makes you nervous about Armageddon, or if the Mayan calendar had you on edge ... how about some scripture from Revelation about "things like burning mountains" falling into the sea or stars falling to earth.
Check out Chapters 8 and 9 for yourself.
Otherwise this hour is full of announcements of important events starting this week and filling the month of March because it is Brain Injury Awareness Month.
