Bernie’s Colorado Journeys has been traveling around Colorado for a while now and along with seeing wonderful scenery I’m also interested in history. Up till now I’ve been using two dated, but not out dated travel books; one is the 1940 Colorado – A Guide to the Highest State and the second is the 1938 Colorado Travelore, A Pocket Guide, Romance of its Trails, Railroads, Highways, and Airways. I like these two books because they were written before the interstate highway system bypassed many of towns that today still have great stories. Because the books are 75+ years old the principle authors are no longer around to get their backstories. In my continuing research I came across a current travel website that caught my interest. Passes & Canyons by Ken Bingenheimer, who is very much alive. Now, even if you drive on four wheels and have air conditioning please continue to listen. Just because you are seeing the world thru your windshield the information in this motorcycle guide can still be used and enjoyed by you.
