FEATURED VIDEO
Fossil Fools Day, April 1st, 2009
Published: 04-21-09
On April 1, 2009, Fossil Fool's Day in Denver, Colorado, I brought my passion and some cameras and joined the rally to support a safe climate and clean air in Colorado. We can not afford to see our planet's climate and resources decline into an unlivable irreversible condition.
I'm proud of the wonderful work that Xcel Energy and Governor Ritter have done for renewable energy in Colorado. I used my amateur talents to produce this video, because I want them to feel charged with enthusiastic support from their local and global community to do a whole lot more for renewables.
When the WildEarth Guardians who organized this rally, sent out their invitation join them in this Fossil Fool's Day rally, they sent a message that rang out loud and clear.
"Colorado still gets 70% of our energy from dirty and dangerous coal, putting our environment, health and economy at risk."
"Just last week Xcel Energy announced its projections to decrease its renewable energy development - at a time when our economy needs to be re-energized more than ever and our public health is increasingly threatened by dirty and dangerous fossil fuels."
"Now is the time to demand a future Beyond Coal. Local environmental groups will be joining WildEarth Guardians and fellow community members in Denver on April 1 in demanding a carbon free future and a real plan toward sustainable development."
"Actions will be happening all over the world sending the message that the era of Fossil Fooling is over. Here in Denver we’ll be challenging dirty energy and calling for clean energy solutions. In the shadow of the Cherokee coal plant - Denver's dirtiest coal plant - we’ll be asking Governor Ritter and Xcel Energy to be true leaders in paving the way to a fully renewable economy by taking distractions to real climate solutions off line. And we need your help to send a strong message to our leadership to keep Colorado clean. "
"Now is the time, WE have the power."
