Just to cheer you up after all that rain and flooding, Brainiacs presents footage from the 2013 Long's Peak Scottish Irish Highlander Festival Sept. 7, 2013 in Estes Park, Colorado, before the roads washed out and Estes Park was cut off from civilization.
Bagpipe bands run the gamut from civil war fife and drum marching bands to brass concert bands to punk rock (Celtica and Black Irish) straight from Scotland to "kitchen bands" from Indianapolis and El Jebel Shrine's band from Denver. That's not counting the dulcimers. But there's a lot more than that at this 3-day fest ... much more than our camera could grab: catapults and canons, dog competitions over sheep and frisbees, spinning and weaving, Mideval weapons and armor, fashion statements in many colors of kilts both short and long, accessorized and plain, clans inviting you to research your ancestry or just join theirs, square dancing and stepdancing, Scottish dancers and leprechauns full of excuses.
These bands include Albanack, Celtica, El Jebel Shrine band, Highland Reign of Indianapolis and others.
If your band is featured without identification, please let us know so we can correct this information.
