A recent indoor activity I did was to wander around the exhibits in the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum, which features history from the dusty past to current subjects that can be further explored after you leave the building. One long-term exhibit features 19th century treatments for tuberculosis. The interactive display starts with you passing thru a faux city portal and hearing the hustle and bustle of a busy train depot welcoming those “chasing the cure”. The full-size displays include a doctor’s office of one noted area physician of the time, a sleeping porch popular in the day, and a TB hut used as individual living quarters during covalence. My visit was on a Saturday and the talk given by the Staff docent was well attended by families. Let’s listen in on her talk and give thanks that tuberculosis is one of our health issues that today has a cure.
