This show has additional Ute nation stories given by Ute Mountain Ute tribal member Ernest House Jr., who is the former executive director of the Colorado Commission of Indian Affairs. The Ute Mountain Ute Tribe is headquartered at Towaoc, Colorado on the Ute Mountain Ute Indian Reservation in southwestern Colorado, northwestern New Mexico and small sections of Utah. Road time is ~7.5 hours from DIA and ~6.5 hours from Colorado Springs. An important part of the talk was information on the Ute Mountain Tribal Park that pretty much surrounds Mesa Verde national park. Most folk’s drive to the Four Corners region of Southwest Colorado because of Mesa Verde national park, but unless they have done their homework they will miss much of the rich history that can be shared by the ancestors of those that originally lived in the area. The Ute Mountain Tribal Park was designated as a Historical District On May 2, 1972 and provides Native American interpretation of the culturally diverse homelands of the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe. You will tour with a knowledgeable Native American Ute tour guide. The Guides interpret Ute Indian History, Ute pictographs, geological land formations, and Ancestral Pueblo petroglyphs, artifacts, and dwellings. Now lets listen in on the conclusion of remarks by Ute nation tribal member Ernest House Jr..
