Tony Bruno didn't know one of the veins in his brain had been severed during a sparing match, but the next day when he began another sparing match, his traumatic brain injury became evident. Pete Bruno, his father, recalls the decisions to induce a coma in attempt to save his only son's life 25 years ago. Today, Tony's ordeal is featured in a documentary "After the Last Round," set to premiere in Denver May 30 on the Auraria Campus. Pete Bruno, a member of the board of the Brain Injury Association of Colorado since Tony's TBI long ago, also authored a book recently called "Dying to Fight." Father and son have sometimes been in the background of videotapes featured on Brainiacs because the two volunteer so much time to support events of the Brain Injury Association of Colorado, www.biacolorado.org or 303-355-9969. So finally we had a great excuse to have them on the show with Host Rick Prokaski. And what an exciting show.
