Even if Heaven Cries
Published: 03-19-09

Even if Heaven Cries is a movie about a mother who lost her house and daughter to a landslide in Southern, Leyte, Philippines. She is one of many recipients of Gawad Kalinga's housing projects. Gawad Kalinga (give care) is a non-profit organization which aims to rebuild the Philippines one family at a time under the motto "No More Slums. No More Violence. No More Poverty."

In 2004, Gawad Kalinga (or GK for short) launched a campaign that envisioned 700,000 homes in 7,000 communities  in 7 years. Though this movement was started by a Catholic family ministry, it is also open to Filipino Muslims and those of other faiths.
